MP Weather: 80% of MP’s dams are full, 10 people washed away in heavy rains, hundreds of people in relief camps

State Bureau, Naiduniya, Bhopal. More than 10 people have been reported to have been swept away in different districts due to heavy rains and floods in the state for the last 3 days. Rescue operations are being carried out by the State Emergency Disaster Response Force (SDERF). 290 people have been kept in two camps operated for flood affected people in Dhimarkheda tehsil of Katni district and 25 people in a camp in Sagar.

Flood control room will work 24 hours

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has asked the district and police administration to remain alert and vigilant. He has said that the flood control room should work 24 hours. All departments should work in coordination. Be extra vigilant on culverts and bridges. Financial assistance should be provided to the affected families on time. Adequate budget has been provided to the districts for relief.

Heavy rain is predicted in these districts

On the other hand, the Indian Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall in Bhopal, Vidisha, Sagar, Damoh, Raisen, Guna, Ashoknagar, Narsinghpur, Narmadapuram, Jabalpur, Katni, Seoni, Chhindwara. The state has received 548.9 mm rainfall till August 3. This is 14 percent more than the average. The government claims that there has been no damage to the crops. Most of the irrigation dams in the state are currently filled up to 60-80 percent. The gates of most of the reservoirs have also been opened.

Vidisha – Eight people are stranded due to sudden rise in water level in the Sarkula river at Kedareshwar temple in Tehsil Pohri. Rescue operations are underway to evacuate them safely. Raisen – Search operations are underway on the information of two persons being swept away in the drain. There is information of one person drowning in the Narmada river and one child drowning in the drain. Chhatarpur – Search is being conducted on a suspicious body stranded in the Dhasan river. Khargone – There is information of a person drowning who had gone to take bath in the Narmada river. Balaghat – Search is being conducted by SDERF on the information of an unidentified woman’s body floating in the Sangadi drain. Sehore – Search is being conducted on the information of a woman jumping into the Narmada river. Village Chidgaon Kachhi to Chameti road is closed. Barricades have been put up. Kotwar is deployed. Umaria – Search is underway on the information of one person drowning. Chhindwara – Search is being conducted on the information of one person drowning in the Pench river. Katni- Right now the river is flowing much above the bridge at Garra Ghat. Water level has risen in all the rivers and streams. The roads are closed. Due to heavy rainfall in the district, waterlogging has occurred at some places. Rewa- 12 people who had come for picnic were safely evacuated by SDERF on receiving information that they were stranded in waterlogging in the forest area. Harda- The road is closed due to water on the culverts built on the road in village Jhugariya Manoharpura, Ajanai-Bamanai, Gangiyakhedi-Ghodakund under Handia tehsil.
