State Bureau, Naiduniya, Bhopal. In Madhya Pradesh, transport companies have been formed in 20 urban bodies with the aim of improving the public transport system and providing facilities in urban areas. This step has been taken under various schemes of the Urban Development and Housing Department, in which emphasis has been laid on JNNURM (Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Scheme) and promotion of electric vehicles.

A total of 1505 buses will be operated under these transport companies, which include 1196 urban and 309 inter-city buses. It is worth mentioning here that the development work of 217 e-charging stations for electric vehicles is going on in major cities of the state like Bhopal, Indore and Jabalpur. In this direction, tenders have also been issued under the PM E-Bus Scheme.

Under the Amrit Yojana, modern ITMS equipment such as GPS, camera and panic button will be provided for the convenience of passengers in bus services in 15 cities of the state. Through these facilities, along with ensuring the safety of women, passengers will also get better information.

Not only this, a control command center will be established for convenient and safe bus operation, which will monitor all the buses. Apart from this, a special electric vehicle policy has also been prepared to promote electric vehicles in the state and a portal called EV-Tarang has been developed for this.
