Hearing on the PIL related to the revival of the Swarnarekha river, questions raised in the court on pending review of the DPR of the project. The officials did not inspect the DPR and present it before the court.

Naiduniya representative, Gwalior. A public interest litigation related to the revival of the Swarnarekha river was heard in the Gwalior bench of the High Court on Monday. In this hearing, the advocate pleading on behalf of the petitioner, citing the High Court’s order of April, said that the order has not been followed yet.

The officials have not inspected the DPR and presented it before the court, they are just delaying the time. On this, the High Court’s division bench said that a large amount is required to complete this project, so it is important for the concerned officials to be satisfied with the DPR. On the petitioner’s argument, the court said that do you know how much work is to be done in this project? It is not that the report is made today and the work is completed tomorrow.

It takes time to inspect the technical report. Saying this, the High Court has directed to review this DPR on September 3 and submit the report to the court. Let us tell you here that in the year 2019, an advocate filed a PIL in the High Court demanding the revival of the city’s Swarnarekha river. Along with this, he has also raised debatable questions regarding the solution to the sewer being drained into it.

While working on its solution, the Municipal Corporation, Smart City, Forest Department and PHE Department are busy in their preparations. At present, its DPR has been prepared which after inspection will be first presented in the court, then on the instructions of the court, it will be sent to the government and funds will be sanctioned. After this, the work of sewer drainage and garbage disposal along with restoration will be started.
