Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Chennai rail routes remained badly affected on Thursday also due to the derailment of a coal laden goods train between Vrindavan Road-Ajhai stations near Mathura on Wednesday night. Due to this accident, trains could not run on the third line along with up and down lines.

Due to this accident, Shatabdi Express, Gatiman Express, Bhopal Vande Bharat, Khajuraho Vande Bharat, Veerangana Laxmibai Jhansi-Agra Express trains passing through Gwalior were cancelled on Thursday. Apart from this, trains going to Jabalpur and cities of Chhattisgarh were run via Agra, Tundla, Govindpuri, Prayagraj via Manikpur-Katni.

These include trains like Utkal Express, Katra-Jabalpur Express, Jammutavi-Durg Express, GT Express, Sampark Kranti Express, Bilaspur Rajdhani Express. Many trains were operated via Hazrat Nizamuddin, Ghaziabad, Mitawali, Etmadpur, Agra Cantt.

Mahakoshal will start from Agra

Mahakaushal Express was operated from Agra instead of Delhi. Due to trains being operated on diverted routes, passengers were seen facing problems at Gwalior railway stations. Only a few trains arrived at the station throughout the day. Although help desks were arranged for the convenience of passengers, but the passengers who had to travel by trains that were cancelled or running on diverted routes had to face more problems.

The goods train was carrying coal from Mathura to Delhi. As soon as the train reached 800 meters ahead of Vrindavan Road Railway Station, the coupling broke and the accident happened. The train had 59 coaches including the engine. The coal filled in the goods train spilled on the track. Many OHE (Over Head Equipment) poles broke. More than 500 employees were engaged in rescue work. Cranes have been called from Agra, Jhansi and Delhi to remove the coaches. Officials claim that the track will be cleared by night.
