Highlights

At this time, cases of conjunctivitis and eye flu have increased. The number of eye patients has increased across the country. The problem of conjunctivitis increases after the rains.

Naiduniya representative, Indore. Conjunctivitis has increased the concern of people in the rainy season. The number of its patients has started increasing suddenly since last one week. Patients from all the districts of the division are coming to Indore for its treatment. About 40 percent of the patients coming to the eye department of MY Hospital OPD are suffering from conjunctivitis.

Experts said that about 300 to 350 patients come to OPD every day for treatment of eye diseases. Out of these, 80 to 100 patients are coming with conjunctivitis. Children and the elderly are the most affected by it.

In this, problems like redness of the eyes, swelling of the eyelids, difficulty in opening the eyes, blurred vision, etc. start occurring. According to experts, conjunctivitis can be extremely contagious in some cases and spreads by coming in contact with an already infected person.

How to Prevent Conjunctivitis

-Avoid touching your eyes repeatedly.

-Keep cleaning your eyes with cold water.

-Do not share your towel and handkerchief with anyone.

-Keep wearing glasses when going out of the house.

-Keep your pillow cover clean and keep changing it.

-While applying kajal and mascara to the eyes, take special care of the cleanliness of the makeup tools.

-Take special care of cleaning the eye lens.

This is the reason for its spread

According to experts, the biggest reason for the spread of the disease is when infected people repeatedly touch their eyes and forget to clean their hands. If a person has conjunctivitis, do not look into his eyes and do not use his handkerchief, towel etc. If we are careful, we can prevent it.

Apart from redness of the white part of the eyes, its symptoms can also be excessive tearing, intense desire to rub the eyes, itching or burning sensation, leakage of sticky substance (pus) from the eyes, formation of crust on the eyelids, etc.

The number of conjunctivitis patients has suddenly increased. People need awareness to prevent it. Many people use eye drops without consulting experts, which should not be done. Always get treatment from experts, so that they can find out which layer of the eyes it is on and provide better treatment. – Dr. Shweta Walia, Ophthalmologist (MY Hospital)
