E-rickshaw drivers drive their vehicles wherever they want. Due to this, the traffic problem in the city is getting more complicated instead of getting solved. Many a times, traffic jams are created on major routes because of them.
Naiduniya representative, Indore (e rickshaw in Indore). E-rickshaws were started to ease traffic and reduce pollution in Indore city, but now they have become a thorn in the neck of the city. About five months ago, 23 routes were made to operate them on the prescribed routes.
It was decided that more than eight thousand e-rickshaws would be operated on these routes, but till now there has been no progress in this direction. The result is that now e-rickshaw drivers drive their vehicles wherever they want. Due to this, the traffic problem in the city has become more complicated instead of getting solved. Due to their rush on the main roads of the city, there is often a situation of jam.
Memorandum given to the collector
E-rickshaws were to be operated from the main roads of Indore city to the lanes and colonies so that the traffic pressure on the city roads could be reduced. Also, people could easily reach the main roads from the lanes and colonies with the help of e-rickshaws, but e-rickshaws are running freely on the main roads.
Four to five e-rickshaws are always parked at every intersection. Rickshaws are parked anywhere and passengers are being seated. Due to this, traffic jams are created several times a day. Recently, the president of Bhagwa Auto Rickshaw Sangh, Virendra Kumar Tripathi, has also given a memorandum to Collector Ashish Singh regarding running e-rickshaws on the prescribed routes.
Efforts were made to improve traffic
In Indore district, registration of new e-rickshaws was banned in March. The showroom operators challenged the registration ban in court and the ban was lifted. E-rickshaws are to be run on routes within Indore city as per colour coding. Entry of e-rickshaws was banned at Rajwada in the middle of the city.
300 e-rickshaws were allowed on one route
23 routes have been made for e-rickshaws in the city and it was decided to run 300 e-rickshaws on one route. These include the routes from Airport to Tejaji Nagar Square, Gangwal Bus Stand to Green Park Colony, Rau Gol Square to Dewas Naka, Mriganyani to Dewas Naka, Guitar Tiraha to Khajrana, Palasia Square to Kanada Road, Bapat Square to Dewas Naka.
Along with this, there are routes from Airport to Aurobindo Hospital, Marimaata Square to Sarvate Bus Stand, Sanjay Setu to Choithram Mandi Square, Patel statue towards Railway Station Siyaganj to Bichauli Hapsi, Sanjay Setu to Raj Mohalla, Bada Ganpati to Krishnapura Chhatri One-Way, Railway Station to Musakhedi Square, Madhu Milan Square to Bhanwarkuan Square, Mahunaka to CAT Road, Mahu Naka to Rajendra Nagar, Naulakha to Devguradia, Chandan Nagar Square to Platform No. 6 Railway Station.
