Naiduniya Representative, Indore. There is a big drug trade in Ratlam and nearby Mandsaur and Pratapgarh districts of Rajasthan. Especially drugs are brought from Pratapgarh and Mandsaur and sent via Ratlam to other cities of the state and states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Punjab, Haryana etc.
Ratlam Police is running a special campaign against drugs and in two years, more than 200 smugglers and drug transporters have been arrested and large quantities of Dodachura, opium smack, MDMA drugs have been seized. In Ratlam, in two years, the police has seized 4523 quintals of Dodachura, 8 kg 150 grams of opium, 969 grams of smack and 3 kg 410 grams of MDMA from the accused. 36 kg 250 grams of ganja and 196 kg of ganja plants have been seized.
Big action after a long time
The action of Mandsaur police is limited to career only. Due to this, the district has become a haven for big smugglers. Smugglers are deeply entrenched in the politics here too. Leaving aside isolated cases, after a long time, action has been taken against the big smuggler Harish Anjana of Mandsaur district.
During the overnight interrogation, Harish Anjana also took the name of Lala of Rajasthan, who used to bring MD from Bhopal and later supplied it to Harish and others. The local police had no idea about it. The police have registered about 180 cases in the district and have made 300 accused in them, but most of them were careers. They were sentenced on average to 5 to 10 years. Not a single big smuggler has been punished.
34 drug related cases in Ujjain in two years
34 drug related cases have been registered in Ujjain district during the last two years. Of these, 70 accused have been arrested. Although there are no major cases in these. It is the local drug smugglers and peddlers who are selling drugs by making small packets. During interrogation, the miscreants told that they brought drugs from Pratapgarh, Chhoti and Badi Sadri, Mandsaur and Neemuch of Rajasthan. There has been no major punishment in the last two years.
