Naiduniya, Malwa-Nimar. Soybean crop is in danger in Malwa-Nimar, the country’s largest soybean belt. This is due to the monsoon rains. These days the crop is either standing in the fields or in the barn after being harvested. At many places, heaps of soybeans are kept in the fields to dry. In such a situation, farmers are worried due to the rain these days.

Farmers claim that due to intermittent rains the crop has suffered losses of up to 20 percent. The crop is still standing in the field, there is a possibility of black spots in its grains. In Khandwa district, there was already a situation of blight in some varieties of soybean in two lakh hectares. Now even the crops grown are in danger due to rain. 20 to 30 percent production has been affected. There is about 3.45 lakh hectares of soybean area in Dewas district. Here the monsoon has worsened the situation further due to insect diseases and drought.

Jeevan Singh Pawar, an advanced farmer of Yashwantnagar Kheda, said that there is a possibility of huge loss in short duration soybean varieties.

Harvesting has stopped in Shajapur district due to rain for two days. At some places, the crops harvested in the fields have been washed away. Behrawal farmers Girish Patidar, Ramchandra Patel, Thakur Prasad told that soybean has started turning black. There is a possibility that 20 to 25 percent production will be affected. There is a fear of damage to the ripe crops in Jhabua district, while in Ratlam district, harvested soybeans kept in the fields are flowing due to heavy rains.

According to farmer Gopal Dhakad of Khetalpur, ripe soybean gets tainted due to exposure to water and when sold, its price is low. There is also a problem for maize, cotton and chilli in Nimar region. The area of ​​soybean in Sankatkhargone district is 85 thousand hectares. Due to heavy rains and water logging in the fields, soybean has been damaged by five percent and maize, cotton and chilli by seven percent.

Soybean has been sown in three lakh 15 thousand hectares in Dhar district. In Dantoli village of Rajgarh area, 50 percent of the crop has been tainted. On an average 15-20 percent of the crops in the district have been affected. Harvesting season is going on in Mandsaur district. The standing crops are in danger due to rain in the district for the last two days.
