Madhya Pradesh Higher Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar said that till now students are being taught wrong history that Columbus discovered America, whereas America was discovered by our ancestors. Its record is still present. India was not discovered by Vasco da Gama. Parmar said this during the convocation ceremony of Barkatullah University (BU).

Narrating the incident of Vasco da Gama’s arrival in India, he said that a sailor from our country had gone to Zanzibar in Africa to trade sandalwood. At the port there, Vasco da Gama told him through his interpreter that he wanted to see India. Chandan said that he was about to leave, so he should follow him with his ship. Actually, India was discovered by a merchant named Chandan. Vasco da Gama himself has written that the merchant Chandan’s ship was going ahead of his ship.
BU became the first university in the country to provide online mark sheets and degrees
Barkatullah University (BU) has become the first university in the country to provide online marksheets and degrees to students. Governor Mangubhai Patel and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav launched the digital marksheet and degree distribution system at the convocation ceremony held at Kushabhau Thackeray Convention Center on Tuesday. During this, student Tanu Gulati was awarded a degree and Anupama Kujur was awarded a PhD degree in digital format. At the convocation ceremony, the Governor said that the university should provide digital marksheets and degrees every year. The Chief Minister said that the convocation is an important stage for students to connect with the world after being initiated into studies and teaching. During this, a total of 28 students were awarded gold medals and 94 were awarded PhD degrees.
