Every year there is a fight of scaffolds on the banks of river Amravati. Around 200 scaffolds and 1 lakh spectators reached the event. FIR against 9 people who organized the event on charges of animal cruelty.

Naidunia Representative, Burhanpur. Shahpur police station has registered a case against nine people, including fair committee president Manoj Chaudhary, for cruelty to animals by colliding scaffolds in the name of tradition, although no accused could be arrested till Sunday evening.

About 200 scaffolds were included

A collision of scaffolds was organized on the banks of Amravati river in Shahpur from 1 pm on Saturday afternoon. About two hundred scaffolds from Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra were included in this event. Nearly one lakh people had reached Shahpur to watch their fight.

The event has been happening for many years

This event has been happening for the last several decades. This time some social workers had opposed this event, calling it cruelty to animals and demanded action. On the instructions of Collector Bhavya Mittal, the police registered a case against the organizers late in the night.

Police station in-charge Shahpur Akhilesh Mishra said that fair committee chairman Manoj Chaudhary, 38 years resident of Shahpur, along with Kanhaiya Navlakhe, Dinkar Chauhan, Sudhir Mahajan, Deepak Yewale, Umakant Patil, Gokul Mahajan, Sunil Wankhede and Vasudev Mahajan, all residents of Shahpur, have filed a complaint against BNS. And a case has been registered under the sections of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
