Be it Rabi or Kharif season, whenever it is time for sowing, fake and substandard fertilizers and seeds start getting consumed in the market. Many such cases came to light in the last season as well.

When the Agriculture Department started spelling this season, then cases of selling substandard seeds in the market have come to the fore. After failing in the investigation, the Agriculture Department has imposed a ban on the sale, storage and transportation of seeds of three firms. Seed License Registration Officer and Deputy Director of Farmers Welfare and Agriculture Development Department PC Patel told that recently the seeds of Corteva Agri Science Seeds Pvt. Ltd. Telangana company were purchased from the shop M/s Mangal Beej Bhandar in Sabalgarh town. In the lab test, this seed was found to be substandard. Apart from this, the seed of Kohinoor Hybrid Seeds Nizamabad was being sold from M/s Shiva Beej Bhandar Jiwajiganj Morena.

Samples of this seed were also taken, which were found to be substandard in the test. Similarly, samples of seeds of Kartik Vioseeds Savarkanta Gujarat company were taken from M/s Agarwal Seeds Store in Jiwajiganj of Morena city, these also failed in the test. Deputy Director PC Patel said that the entire lot of seeds that failed in the test has been banned.

Farmers queuing up for fertilizers

Administration claims no shortage Like every time, this time also the district administration is claiming that there is no shortage of fertilizer in the district. Yet the situation is such that from Morena district headquarters to the town areas, wherever fertilizer is being distributed, farmers are queuing up for fertilizer.

In Jaura town, the turn of the farmers standing in queue for fertilizer is coming only after five hours. In Morena, fertilizer is being distributed under police surveillance. On showing the Aadhar card of the farmer, five bags of urea are being given. The farmer who needs 10 bags of fertilizer, two members of that farmer’s family are standing in the fertilizer queue with Aadhar card.

On the other hand, Collector Ankit Asthana has instructed SDM- Tehsildars that revenue officers should keep an eye on fertilizer distribution. This time there is more fertilizer in the district compared to last year, farmers have plenty of fertilizer, there is no shortage of fertilizer, fertilizer is available in more quantity this year compared to last year. Revenue officers should handle the distribution system so that farmers can get fertilizer easily.
