Navdunia Representative, Bhopal. On the occasion of Independence Day, a man in Gautam Nagar police station area of the city put up the flag of Palestine along with the national flag outside his shop. On receiving the information, when the police reached the spot and took down the flag of Palestine and reprimanded the shopkeeper for this, he started arguing with the police and pressuring them to return the flag. The police confiscated the flag and arrested the accused shopkeeper and brought him to the police station. The police have registered a case in this matter under various sections including insulting the national flag. The police will present the accused in the court today.

Gautam Nagar police station in-charge Narendra Thakur said that the accused Hafiz Khan (40) is a resident of PGBT College Road. He has a shop named New Fashion Ladies Tailor near the college. On Thursday afternoon, information was received from local residents that the accused has put the Indian tricolor in one corner of his shop and the Palestinian flag in the other. After this, when the police reached the spot, they found the information to be correct. After this, the Palestinian flag was confiscated and the accused shop owner was taken into custody.
The police is interrogating the accused to find out what was his motive behind putting the Palestinian flag outside the shop and who instigated him to do so.
