A catastrophic landslide in Darjeeling’s Dilaram area has claimed the lives of at least seven individuals. The Kurseong-Darjeeling road is currently blocked, hindering travel, while rescue operations continue. Additional SP of Kurseong, Abhishek Roy, confirmed the recovery of seven bodies and the ongoing search for two missing persons. The landslide has led to the closure of the Kurseong-Darjeeling road and the Rohini Road is also inaccessible. The condition of Pankhabari Road is reported to be in bad shape, whereas Tindharia Road remains open. Evacuation efforts are underway to move tourists from Mirik using Tindharia Road, with the operation expected to conclude within a few hours.
