Hyderabad’s political arena heated up on Wednesday as Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao launched a scathing attack on Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. In a packed press conference, KTR demanded an immediate investigation into what he called a ‘benami’ company closely linked to the CM.
KTR alleged that KLSR Infrastructure, a firm under the scanner, has been operating as a front for Revanth Reddy since its inception. He claimed to possess concrete evidence supporting his accusations, pointing to the company’s murky financial dealings even as it undergoes insolvency proceedings.
The Supreme Court recently issued notices to the Telangana government over large-scale financial transactions in KLSR despite its bankruptcy status. KTR highlighted how these moves allegedly interfere with judicial processes, raising serious questions about governance transparency.
He accused Revanth Reddy of orchestrating a political drama in Davos around a supposed telephone tapping case, forming a Special Investigation Team (SIT) merely to divert public attention from these scandals. ‘This is a blatant distraction tactic,’ KTR asserted.
Demanding swift action, KTR called for an immediate probe into KLSR, halting all its operations until cleared, blacklisting the firm, and canceling all undeserved government contracts. He revealed that enforcement agencies raided KLSR in 2018, with media reports then linking it to Revanth Reddy, who was Congress state president at the time.
Post-insolvency admission at the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), KTR alleged the CM pulled strings to secure major government projects for KLSR after assuming office. These include Amrit schemes, Jal Jeevan Mission, Young India Residential Schools, irrigation projects, and road developments worth nearly ₹6,000 crore.
KTR drew connections to Sai Maurya Estates, linked to Revanth Reddy’s brother-in-law, citing 2018 Income Tax raids that uncovered transactions between the two. In July 2023, disputes led to NCLT petitions, triggering insolvency and freezing financial activities—yet contracts kept flowing.
‘Behind the scenes, Revanth Reddy worked to favor KLSR, transferring massive funds through land deals,’ KTR charged, urging enforcement agencies to revisit their earlier findings. This escalating feud underscores deepening rifts in Telangana politics, with BRS vowing not to let alleged corruption slide.
