Police investigating the gangrape of a law student in Kolkata reconstructed the crime scene on Friday, taking the four arrested individuals to South Calcutta Law College. The reconstruction was conducted to document and understand the events of the alleged rape, which occurred on June 25th. The accused – Monojit Mishra, Pramit Mukherjee, Zaib Ahmed, and Pinaki Banerjee – were present during the recreation of the scene. After the five-hour process, the accused were brought back to the police station. The police are now comparing the reconstruction with the victim’s claims and other evidence. The victim stated that she and other students were afraid of Mishra, who had been associated with the ruling party. He had been accused of intimidation and harassment. Mishra faces multiple charges, including harassment, and was out on bail. The college has terminated Mishra’s contract. Mishra was previously a student at the institute, and was expelled in 2013. The court extended the custody of Mishra and the other two students until July 8; the security guard will remain in custody until Friday.
