A journalist in Kolkata faced a terrifying ordeal on a bus when she was assaulted by a fellow passenger. The 55-year-old man, identified as Sanjay Basak, allegedly slapped, abused, and molested the woman. The man was sitting in a seat reserved for ladies. The incident unfolded when the man started touching her inappropriately. Despite her requests to behave appropriately, the man responded with abusive remarks and questioned her morality. The situation quickly escalated as he threw her bag, slapped her, and tore her clothing. Demonstrating incredible bravery, the journalist alerted the authorities and, with the help of other passengers, removed the assailant from the bus. The police arrived promptly, arrested Basak, and filed a case against him under various legal provisions, including those related to molestation and causing grievous harm. The journalist is scheduled to provide a confidential statement to the magistrate after undergoing a medical examination.
