A young doctor, Dr. Joshua Samraj, was found dead in a car near Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu, sparking an investigation into a suspected suicide. The deceased, a postgraduate medical student, was found with evidence suggesting he had self-administered IV fluids. The incident occurred in a forest area, with villagers alerting the authorities after observing the vehicle for several days. A suicide note was recovered from the vehicle; it contained an apology to the family but did not provide any explanation for the doctor’s actions. His family informed the police that he had been dealing with personal relationship problems. Financial difficulties were also a factor, police said, although the exact source of the debt is under investigation. The police are awaiting a post-mortem report to determine the exact cause of death and have registered a case. The tragic event underscores the importance of addressing mental health issues within the medical community.
