In the rugged terrains of Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir, a young man’s dream of self-reliance is taking shape, thanks to the Chief Minister’s Youth Self-Employment Scheme. Priyanshu Sharma, a local entrepreneur, credits this central government initiative for transforming his life and opening doors for others.
Priyanshu, who holds an MA in History from Jammu University, always harbored ambitions of starting his own business. Upon returning to Kishtwar, he learned about the Mission Youth Scheme through the employment office. Securing a loan of 10 lakh rupees under the program, he launched his venture successfully.
‘This scheme is a game-changer for unemployed youth across India,’ Priyanshu told reporters. ‘It not only empowers individuals to become self-dependent but also fosters economic independence.’ His business now employs three chefs, creating jobs in a region where opportunities are scarce.
The initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. By providing financial support and guidance, it encourages entrepreneurship over traditional job hunts. Priyanshu urges fellow youth: ‘Don’t limit yourselves to government or private jobs. Embrace entrepreneurship to secure your future and boost the nation’s economy.’
Success stories like Priyanshu’s highlight the scheme’s impact in reducing unemployment and promoting self-sustained growth. As more young people step forward, Kishtwar is witnessing a quiet revolution in local enterprise, proving that with the right support, dreams can flourish even in remote corners.
