In a chilling incident near Kochi, Kerala, the suicide of 16-year-old schoolgirl Aditya has left investigators grappling with unanswered questions, especially after a mysterious ‘Korean connection’ surfaced. Ten days after her body was discovered in a deserted, water-filled granite quarry close to her home, police and school officials remain stumped.

Aditya, daughter of Mahesh and Ramya, left home that fateful morning claiming she was heading to school. Instead, her lifeless body was found in the quarry, sparking serious doubts about the circumstances of her death. A suicide note in her school bag revealed she was devastated by the supposed death of a Korean friend she met on Instagram on January 1, learning of his passing around January 19.

The note, spanning about two-and-a-half pages in English and Korean, expressed profound grief over leaving her parents and unbearable pain from her friend’s loss. Police suspect the Instagram account might be fake, noting it had only 12 followers—hardly the profile of a popular figure. Delays in accessing her mobile phone have heightened public anxiety, with teachers warning of online traps targeting teens through fabricated ‘Korean romance’ profiles using celebrity images.

Additional clues include Korean notes in one of her books, currently under translation. Aditya was a first-year student in the lab technician course at Chottanikara Government Vocational Higher Secondary School. As the probe intensifies, cyber and forensic experts are set to delve deeper, amid growing concerns over social media’s dark influence on vulnerable youth.
