The CBI is now handling the investigation into the disappearance of Abhinand Yesudasan, a mariner who vanished from a ship eight years ago. Abhinand, who worked as a pipe fitter, was last seen on a ship. The federal agency’s involvement follows an order from the Kerala High Court, stemming from a petition by the mariner’s father, Yesudasan. Abhinand, a 21-year-old from Kollam, Kerala, was employed by Aries Marines LLC, based in Sharjah, UAE. He went missing on March 21, 2017, during a voyage from Egypt to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
His father’s complaint to the state police included details of Abhinand’s phone calls from Egypt and Turkey, where he expressed happiness. The father also alleged that Abhinand had reported being harassed by colleagues on March 17, 2017, due to his lack of experience.
