A landslide struck the Vaishno Devi Yatra route in Katra on Monday morning, following intense rainfall across Jammu and Kashmir. At least four pilgrims sustained injuries in the incident, which occurred near the Banganga area, a critical point for commencing the pilgrimage. Immediate rescue operations were launched by the administration, volunteers, and the police. The swift response ensured the safe evacuation of the injured. The landslide resulted in significant damage to structures along the route, causing a temporary halt to the yatra. In addition to Katra, the impact of the heavy rains was also visible on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, where a landslide near Dewal bridge led to traffic disruptions.
