The Dharmasthala case in Karnataka has taken a new turn as the SIT has detained the individual who made serious accusations. The former sanitation worker alleged involvement in the burial of bodies, including those of women and minors, some showing signs of sexual violence, at Dharmasthala between 1995 and 2014. The individual’s statement was also recorded before a magistrate. The SIT has not revealed the identity of the individual. The investigation is ongoing, and officials have cited inconsistencies between the statements and the supplied evidence as the reason for the detention. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has expressed belief that there is a plot to damage the reputation of Dharmasthala, and an SIT team has been formed to determine the truth.
