The Karnataka Cooperation Minister, K.N. Rajanna, has resigned from his post, following a dispute over his remarks regarding alleged vote irregularities during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Rajanna’s resignation was prompted by his comments, which contradicted the official party line regarding “vote theft,” which was a key point for Rahul Gandhi. The high command allegedly instructed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to remove Rajanna from his position, leading to the minister’s departure. Rajanna’s statements centered on the irregularities that occurred during the voter list preparation, and his concerns about the handling of such matters. Rahul Gandhi has been at the forefront of criticizing the Election Commission and the BJP, asserting that they engaged in vote manipulation. Specifically, Gandhi highlighted claims of over one lakh fake votes in the Mahadevapura Assembly segment. Rajanna, in his statements, questioned why the Congress party did not take action on voter irregularities. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has responded to the situation by dismissing Rajanna’s claims, indicating that the party leadership will respond to the controversy.
