In a scathing attack on the Congress-led government in Karnataka, BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi exposed what he called a massive Rs 6,000 crore liquor scam rocking the state. Speaking at a press conference in New Delhi on Friday, Trivedi highlighted how the scandal has been alleged not by the central government, but by local liquor traders themselves.

Trivedi drew a sharp contrast between BJP’s governance models and Congress’s approach. ‘When BJP was in opposition at the Centre, the Gujarat model was celebrated. Now, let’s examine the Congress model in states they govern,’ he said. The Wine Merchants Association has detailed how allotments for restaurants and hotels funneled money to ministers and officials at various levels.

He emphasized public expectations from any government: development and good governance. Recalling BJP’s initiatives in Madhya Pradesh for girls’ futures and interest-free loans for farmers in Karnataka in 2008, Trivedi accused Congress of prioritizing power struggles over progress. ‘In Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan—it’s endless infighting between chief ministers and deputies,’ he noted, lamenting the betrayal of Karnataka’s voters.

Trivedi also turned to West Bengal, where the Calcutta High Court ordered the state government to finalize land allocation for border fencing by March 31, 2026. ‘This exposes TMC’s compromise on national security for infiltrators’ votes,’ he charged, predicting BJP’s victory in upcoming elections as people reject TMC’s policies.

The BJP leader’s remarks underscore a broader narrative of Congress and its allies failing on governance, security, and development, setting the stage for political reckonings ahead.
