The Karnataka government is facing severe criticism following a stampede in Bengaluru during the IPL victory celebrations of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), which led to 11 fatalities. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has directly targeted Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, demanding their immediate resignation. Joshi cited their alleged mismanagement and lack of sensitivity in handling the crowd control. He highlighted that the DCP had warned about potential risks associated with the celebration, and the Police Commissioner had requested a postponement due to manpower shortages; these were allegedly ignored. Joshi asserted that the state government bears moral responsibility for the tragedy, condemning the suspension of police officials. The RCB team had previously been honored by the government. The government has suspended top police officials and formed a commission to investigate the incident.
