Raipur, January 30: In a sharp critique on Mahatma Gandhi’s martyrdom anniversary, Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar accused the BJP of fueling divisive politics across India. Speaking to reporters in Surguja, Kumar emphasized that vested interests are deliberately sowing hatred to sustain their agendas, but warned that an awakened public is now seeing through it.

On this day when the nation honors Gandhi’s legacy of truth and non-violence, Kumar highlighted ongoing non-political commemorations in Surguja that have continued for years. ‘People are intentionally spreading hate in the country for their political gain,’ he said. ‘But the public has become aware, putting their divisive strategies at risk.’

Drawing a stark contrast, Kumar noted Gandhi’s commitment to uniting all religions, lamenting the current surge in faith-based politicking. He boldly stated that today’s politics echoes the ideology of Gandhi’s assassin, Nathuram Godse. ‘We must remember Gandhi every day to eradicate this Godse-like politics and foster unity among all communities,’ he urged.

Targeting the BJP directly, Kumar remarked that its leaders, being Indians themselves, know the nation’s history well yet persist in such tactics. ‘They should abandon this path, embrace truth and non-violence, and focus on development instead of hate,’ he advised. Promoting peace, he stressed that pitting communities against each other harms the nation and its people, calling for an immediate end to such practices to preserve India’s unity and integrity.
