Jammu, February 17: In a heightened security move, authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have released photographs of five suspected Pakistani terrorists spotted in the border districts of Kathua and Samba. The public has been urged to assist security forces in tracking their movements.
This action follows critical intelligence inputs from outside Jammu and Kashmir, pointing to potential infiltration attempts across the border. Official sources confirmed that the posters, titled ‘Public Information,’ carry a strong appeal: spot anything suspicious and immediately inform the Army, CRPF, police, or BSF, or dial the provided helpline numbers.
Confidentiality is assured for informants, encouraging citizens to come forward without fear. The intelligence reportedly originated from Punjab’s security agencies, who shared details of suspicious cross-border entries.
Security forces have intensified anti-terror operations across Kathua, Kishtwar, Udhampur, Doda, and Samba districts. Extra checkpoints dot highways and border areas, with area domination patrols and thorough searches underway to neutralize threats and dismantle terror networks.
This development comes soon after posters of Pakistan-based terrorist Saifullah Baloch surfaced in Doda, part of ongoing efforts to track active foreign militants in the Chenab Valley.
In Kathua, restrictions on non-essential movement within a 5-km radius of the International Border were imposed last Saturday, citing risks of cross-border firing and anti-national activities. District Magistrate Rajesh Sharma invoked Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) to enforce these measures for public safety.
J&K Police Director General Nalin Prabhat recently visited Samba, reviewing security arrangements with senior officers. He assessed the overall situation and emphasized heightened vigilance in border regions.
Echoing these efforts, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during his recent J&K visit, directed a ‘mission mode’ approach to eradicate terrorism and ensure zero infiltration along borders.
