Srinagar, January 21 – Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat emphasized the hard-won peace in Kashmir during a high-level security review in Shopian district on Wednesday. Speaking at a crucial meeting, he underscored the need for a firm hand against anti-national elements threatening public safety and stability.

Prabhat, while assessing ongoing security measures, directed officers to adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards disruptive forces. The review covered comprehensive preparations for the upcoming Republic Day celebrations, including law and order management, counter-terrorism strategies, crime control, and overall security protocols.

He stressed the importance of heightened vigilance, robust security plans, intensive area domination, and intelligence-driven operations to ensure peaceful and incident-free festivities across the district. ‘Peace in Kashmir is the result of prolonged struggles; we must safeguard it decisively,’ the DGP asserted.

Reiterating commitment to national security, Prabhat called for sustained campaigns against harmful activities. He urged the force to uphold people-friendly policing, dedication, professionalism, and rule of law to create a secure environment for Shopian’s residents.

Meanwhile, in Srinagar, police have ramped up security ahead of Republic Day. Strategic deployments, special checkpoints, and mobile patrols are in place, with thorough checks on vehicles and individuals. Night patrols and surprise inspections aim to thwart any disruptions.

Extra personnel guard sensitive areas, with close monitoring of suspicious activities. Senior officers are personally overseeing implementations. Police have appealed for public cooperation, urging citizens to report any suspicious behavior to the nearest station promptly.

These measures reflect a proactive approach to maintaining harmony during national celebrations, ensuring safety for all in the region.
