Ranchi. Former Union Minister 86-year-old Yashwant Sinha is preparing to play another political innings. He has decided to form a new political party in a meeting with his supporters in Hazaribagh. He will soon take initiative in this direction. It has been decided that the proposed party will be named ‘Atal Vichar Manch’. Yashwant Sinha joined Mamata Banerjee’s party Trinamool Congress in the year 2021, but now his activity in the party is negligible. In the recent Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party cut the ticket of his son Jayant Sinha from Hazaribagh seat. After this, he directly opposed Manish Jaiswal, who was made the BJP candidate here. Yashwant Sinha had supported Congress candidate Jaiprakash Patel from here and also appealed for votes in his favor. However, the Congress candidate had to face defeat.

After Yashwant Sinha took the charge in favour of the Congress candidate, many BJP leaders in this district left the party agreeing with his stand. Yashwant Sinha held a meeting with such leaders of Hazaribagh in Atal Bhawan located in Saketpuri Colony of the city. Let us tell you that the office of Hazaribagh district unit of BJP used to operate in this Atal Bhawan. Yashwant Sinha owns this building. After the Lok Sabha elections, he has taken possession of this building. Now this building will be the headquarters of the proposed new party. Assembly elections are going to be held in Jharkhand in November-December and Yashwant Sinha can field his party candidates on some seats. Supporters have urged Sinha to contest from Hazaribagh Assembly Seat himself. Yashwant Sinha has been an MP from Hazaribagh Lok Sabha seat thrice and MLA from Ranchi Assembly seat in united Bihar. He has been the Finance Minister and Foreign Minister in the governments of Chandrashekhar and Atal Bihari Vajpayee at the Centre.

In 2014, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) fielded Yashwant Sinha’s son Jayant Sinha from Hazaribagh seat in place of Yashwant Sinha. Yashwant Sinha also took an undeclared retirement from politics in 2014 after his son became an MP, but in 2020 he became active once again. He visited many areas of Bihar and also formed a political party called ‘Bharatiya Sab Log Party’. However, ‘Bharatiya Sab Log Party’ could not make an impact. After this, Sinha joined Mamata Banerjee’s party Trinamool Congress in 2021. In 2022, he was made the joint presidential candidate on behalf of the opposition parties.
