A united front of villagers in Chhota Bakau, West Singhbhum, utilized a Gram Sabha meeting to highlight pressing issues demanding administrative attention. The gathering, led by village headmen Budhay Singh Savaiya and Jitra Savaiya, and attended by Panchayat Chief Motaye Boypai, underscored critical infrastructure and service failures. The primary concern was the abysmal condition of the village road, creating significant travel difficulties for the community. Disappointment and frustration were also voiced regarding the perpetual delay in the bridge construction over a mountain stream. Villagers reported that work ceased after a survey, leaving them disconnected from essential services and external support. Issues with mobile network coverage, despite a tower being present, were also discussed, with residents noting the unreliability for emergency contact. The crucial absence of a Sahia for two months has left pregnant mothers without vital health services. The non-functional health sub-center building further exacerbates the healthcare gap. Noted social activist Ramesh Balmchu and advocate Mahendra Jamuda were present, lending support. Jamuda promised to escalate these grievances to the highest administrative levels, emphasizing the need for prompt action on health facilities, road and bridge infrastructure, and improved network services.
