The weather bureau has issued a yellow alert for the next three days, signaling the likelihood of heavy rainfall in various districts of Jharkhand. The advisory also suggests the possibility of intense rain and strong winds in several areas.

The rainfall is being caused by a low-pressure system over the south-eastern Bay of Bengal and nearby regions, along with eastern Bihar and its surrounding areas, which is leading to rainfall across Jharkhand. On September 16th, some locations in the state’s north-western and central regions are forecast to receive heavy rainfall.

The weather department predicts thunderstorms, gusty winds (30-40 kmph), and the potential for lightning strikes in some parts of the state. On September 17th, the northern and adjacent central areas of the state may experience thunderstorms, strong winds (30-40 kmph), and lightning. For September 18th, heavy rainfall is anticipated in parts of north-western and north-central Jharkhand, accompanied by strong winds (30-40 kmph) and the possibility of lightning.

Dumka recorded the highest rainfall in the state during the past 24 hours, measuring 152 millimeters. Ranchi saw 40.8 mm of rainfall during the same period. Other areas that experienced rainfall include: Chakradharpur (134.8 mm), Sadar Chaibasa (98.4 mm), Daltonganj (89 mm), Mandu (87.2 mm), Rajdhanwar (85 mm), Chainpur (76 mm), Mander (75.2 mm), Kuchai (64.2 mm), Koderma DVC (60.5 mm), Rania (58.4 mm), Gudri (57.6 mm), Tilia (55.5 mm), Patratu (55 mm), Sonua (54.4 mm), Masanjore (51.2 mm), Maharo (46 mm), Ramgarh (45.6 mm), Badkisuraiya (43 mm), and Siktia (42.4 mm).
