Under the leadership of DC-SSP, 16 teams formed a surprise inspection of Hotwar Jail, returned empty handed.

Ranchi: A surprise inspection of Birsa Munda Central Jail Hotwar was conducted under the joint leadership of DC Rahul Kumar Sinha and SSP Chandan Sinha from 9:00 pm on Sunday night. 16 teams were formed and all the wards, women’s ward, cell, hospital etc. were inspected. But no objectionable material was recovered from any cell. DC and SSP took information from the Jailer and Jail Superintendent of the Central Jail about the security arrangements of the jail, hospital arrangements, kitchen and arrangements for meeting the prisoners etc. In this team, Additional District Magistrate Law and Order Rajeshwar Nath Alok, Sub-Divisional Officer, Sadar , Utkarsh Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police, City K.V. Raman, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Headquarters-2 Arvind Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sadar Sanjeev Kumar, in addition to Besra, 06 Police Station Incharge-cum- Inspector of Police – Kotwali, Sadar Police Station, Lower Bazaar Police Station, Bariatu police station, Sukhdev Nagar police station and traffic police station in-charge Kotwali were also included. Apart from the above officials, 140 male and 20 female constables were also included. By forming 16 separate teams, all wards, women’s wards, cells and hospitals etc. were examined. No objectionable item was recovered during the inspection.

During the inspection, the jailer and jail superintendent of the Central Jail were present, from whom the Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police took information about the arrangements of the Central Jail, security arrangements, hospital arrangements, kitchen and arrangements for meeting the prisoners etc.

The above inspection was done in the context of the guidelines of the Election Commission of India to conduct free and fair elections for the upcoming Lok Sabha General Elections – 2024. In future also, surprise inspections will continue to be conducted in the Central Jail.
