The memorial feast for former Jharkhand Chief Minister Dishom Guru Shibu Soren saw a massive turnout, with lakhs of people in attendance. Prominent figures like Yoga guru Baba Ramdev and Home Minister Amit Shah were present at Nemra. They met with the family of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and paid their respects by offering flowers to a photograph of Shibu Soren.
Shibu Soren died on August 4th at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi. His son, Hemant Soren, performed the last rites in his ancestral village, Nemra, where all subsequent ceremonies are also taking place.
A post on social media by the Jharkhand Chief Minister’s office showcased the attendance of Baba Ramdev and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh at the memorial feast. Baba Ramdev paid his respects to Dishom Guru Shibu Soren by offering flowers. He also met Chief Minister Hemant Soren and his family to offer his condolences. In a gesture of respect, Baba Ramdev sought the blessings of Hemant Soren’s mother, Rupi Soren.
To ensure order and safety, extensive security arrangements were made. Over 2500 police officers were deployed, and more than 300 e-rickshaws were available to transport attendees from the parking areas.
The feast catered to over two lakh people. A diverse menu of twelve different dishes was offered, with separate food arrangements for vegetarians and non-vegetarians. The culinary spread included a wide range of options.
