On Wednesday afternoon, Krishna Rana, a 21-year-old from Giridih district, drowned in Dimna Lake. He was with nine friends at the time. While swimming with his friends, he went under the water and could not be saved due to the lack of immediate assistance. According to reports, a group of around nine young men, all of whom worked as carpenters, had visited Dimna Lake. Six of them entered the water to swim. Krishna Rana, who entered the water last, suddenly began to drown in the deeper portion of the lake. His friends attempted to rescue him, but failed and were forced to come out of the water. Those present at the location quickly alerted the police, however, the police did not arrive quickly. Instead of commencing a rescue operation, the authorities conducted an inquiry. Fishermen arrived later and retrieved the body of the young man from the water. Residents of the area noted that this was not the first time someone had drowned in Dimna Lake. There have been several prior incidents. Nevertheless, there are no lifeguards or warning signs positioned in the lake area. Following each accident, only procedural actions are taken, while more comprehensive measures could potentially save numerous lives.
