The Pahari Mandir in Ranchi is facing a crisis, according to a technical team that recently inspected the site. The team’s findings indicate that the hill on which the temple stands is unstable and unsuitable for any further construction. A member of the technical team revealed that the soil of the hill has become loose. The team is currently studying the situation and will submit a report to the state government within six months. The temple’s structure is threatened by a burgeoning rat population that is burrowing tunnels, weakening the walls, floors, and foundation. The rats have also damaged the roots of the trees in the temple complex. The ongoing construction of a guard wall to prevent soil erosion remains unfinished, causing further damage. The temple’s beautification efforts over the past decade have been extensive, with millions of rupees invested. However, the focus has been on cosmetic improvements, such as the repeated renovation of the stairs.
