A violent incident occurred at Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra in Ranchi, a leading college in India, on Wednesday night. An MBA student was accosted by an unidentified person within the campus premises. When the student resisted the advances, the assailant attacked her with a blade, causing injury.

The injured student was promptly taken to a nursing home for medical treatment. The incident caused immediate outrage among students, leading to protests that continued despite attempts by the college administration and local police to restore order.

In response to the attack, students have decided to boycott classes on Thursday. They will not be attending classes as a sign of protest against the assault. The BIT OP police are currently gathering information from the affected student. The incident took place late Wednesday night while the student was walking on the campus grounds.

The unknown individual entered the campus and initiated harassment. Upon the student’s resistance, the individual used a blade, inflicting an injury. Police are investigating the incident, focusing on CCTV footage from the BIT Mesra campus to identify the perpetrator.

BIT Mesra was founded in 1955 by industrialist BM Birla. It has deemed university status from the UGC and is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council and the National Board of Accreditation.

President Droupadi Murmu was the chief guest at the platinum jubilee celebrations of BIT Mesra on February 15th of this year. She opened an exhibition about the college’s 70-year history and examined scientific and technological displays. She also spoke with BIT Mesra students.
