Election authorities are intensifying efforts to enhance voter list accuracy through advanced data mapping techniques. Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar has mandated that electoral officials focus on mapping the current voter database against the 2003 electoral rolls, a critical step for the upcoming voter list revision. This extensive mapping aims to simplify the enumeration process by establishing clear parental lineage for voters. The directive was issued during an online conference with Deputy Electoral Officers from all districts. Kumar underscored the zero-tolerance policy for any lapses in election duties, stating that recalcitrant BLOs will face suspension and immediate replacement. He reiterated that all assigned election tasks are compulsory for officials across all ranks, with no room for excuses. The meeting involved a thorough review of voter list mapping progress in each district, where specific instructions were provided to address ground-level difficulties. Officials are now tasked with conducting field inspections to identify and resolve mapping discrepancies, thereby speeding up the overall process. The session also featured an informative presentation on the strategic rationalization of polling stations.
