In a heartbreaking twist of fate, the joyous preparations for a sister’s wedding in Palamu district’s Rehiya village turned into profound grief on Monday. Akbar Ansari, a 20-year-old young man, lost his life in a horrific head-on collision while riding his two-wheeler to purchase wedding supplies.
The family was buzzing with excitement in Rehiya village under Manatu police station limits. Akbar was heading from Rehiya through Manatu to Padma when tragedy struck near Kartik Oraon High School in Kusdi village. His bike collided violently with another two-wheeler coming from the opposite direction.
The other vehicle carried Punil Kumar along with his cousins Soni Kumari and Puja Kumari from Aduariya village under Chak panchayat. The three were returning home after their matric exams. The impact was so severe that both bikes were completely wrecked.
Akbar succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while the others sustained serious wounds. Local residents rushed the injured to Manatu Community Health Center. Doctors, assessing their critical condition, referred them to MMCH Medininagar for advanced treatment.
Manatu police station in-charge Vicky Kumar arrived promptly with his team. The deceased’s body was sent for post-mortem, and both damaged vehicles were seized. Investigations are underway, with eyewitnesses pointing to high speed as the primary cause.
What was meant to be a day of celebration in Rehiya village has now draped the entire community in mourning. The wedding festivities have been overshadowed by an irreplaceable loss, leaving the family and neighbors in deep sorrow.
