Sarhul Festival: Sarna Committees Invite Jharkhand CM

RANCHI: In a vibrant display of cultural reverence, multiple Sarna committees extended a warm invitation to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday for the upcoming Sarhul Mahaparva. The meeting took place at the CM's residence office, underscoring the deep-rooted tribal traditions that define the state's identity.

Delegations from prominent groups like the Sarna Puja Committee, Dahutoli, Hatma, and Ranchi presented a formal invitation letter to the Chief Minister. They urged him to grace the Sarhul Puja Mahotsav scheduled for March 21. This festival, celebrated with great fervor by the Sarna community, marks the onset of spring and honors nature's bounty through sacred rituals.

Accompanying the invitation was a call for the CM's participation in the grand celebrations, highlighting the community's respect for his leadership. Key figures present included committee chairman Vishwas Urav, alongside Kamal Munda, Rohan Kachhap, Ashutosh Goswami, Sudhir Minz, and Basant Toppo.

Meanwhile, the Central Sarna Committee, Ranchi, also met with the Chief Minister separately. Led by chairman Ajay Tirkey, the group invited him to the traditional Sarhul Puja at the Central Sarna site in Sirmatoli. The delegation boasted a strong representation, featuring Rahul Urav, Neema Tirkey, Sushma Rani Bhagat, Munna Urav, Sachin Kachhap, Bablu Urav, Lakshmi Narayan Munda, Amit Munda, Sunil Toppo, Babulal Mahli, Commissioner Munda, Vijay Kachhap, and several others.

Sarhul Mahaparva holds immense significance in Jharkhand's tribal culture. It is a time when communities gather under sacred sal trees to perform puja, seeking blessings for abundant harvests and prosperity. The festival symbolizes renewal, with rituals involving offerings to the village deity, Sarna Burhi, and joyful dances that echo through the forests.

The Chief Minister's potential attendance would not only honor these traditions but also strengthen the bond between the government and indigenous communities. As Jharkhand prepares for this auspicious occasion, the invitations signal a renewed commitment to preserving cultural heritage amid modern development.
