Ranchi Police Crack Jagannathpur Temple Guard Murder Case

The Ranchi Police have successfully solved the high-profile murder and robbery case that occurred at the historic Jagannathpur Temple in Dhurwa. Within a short span of time, authorities arrested three individuals responsible for the brutal killing of the temple guard, Birsa Munda, and the subsequent theft of over ₹3 lakh from the temple's donation box. The incident, which took place early Friday morning, had sent shockwaves through the capital city, raising serious concerns regarding the security of religious sites. Following the crime, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted under the leadership of the Ranchi City SP to track down the culprits. The investigation utilized a combination of CCTV footage, technical surveillance, and human intelligence to zero in on the suspects. The arrested individuals have been identified as Dev Kumar alias Rachit Kumar, Vikas Mahli, and Ayush Kumar Datta, all residents of the New Colony area near the temple. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement, revealing a chilling plan to rob the 350-year-old temple. Police recovered the stolen cash, the murder weapons—including a heavy stone and an iron rod—and several luxury items the suspects had purchased with the looted money shortly after the crime.
