In a decisive crackdown, Ranchi police shattered a sprawling prostitution network operating across the Jharkhand capital on Sunday. The coordinated raids in multiple police station areas led to the arrest of eight individuals, including five young women and three men.
Senior Superintendent of Police Rakesh Ranjan received credible intelligence about organized sex trafficking in key neighborhoods like Lalpur and Chutia. The racket allegedly involved over two dozen women housed in hotels and rented accommodations, forced into illegal activities.
Acting swiftly on the tip-off, SSP Ranjan directed City SP Paras Rana to form a special task force. The team executed simultaneous raids, apprehending key players in the syndicate.
Among the detained, most women hail from Ranchi and Kolkata. Police also nabbed customers during the operations and captured the female ringleader orchestrating the network. Investigations reveal she trafficked women from West Bengal and other states, with a prior criminal record including previous jail terms.
Authorities are now interrogating the suspects to uncover additional links in the racket. This bold action underscores Ranchi police’s commitment to dismantling human trafficking operations and protecting vulnerable individuals. Further arrests are anticipated as the probe deepens.
