A shocking case of a multi-crore fraud has surfaced in Ranchi, Jharkhand, exposing a father-son duo who allegedly swindled aspiring job seekers with false promises of employment in the High Court. The pair, residents of Tharpakhna, within the Lower Bazaar police station area, exploited their purported influence and connections with senior officials to deceive young individuals with the allure of government jobs, thereby defrauding them of over a crore of rupees.

Police sources indicate that the accused, Rajkumar and his son Paramit Raj, had been systematically targeting unsuspecting youths by falsely claiming access to connections that could secure assistant positions in the High Court. They used this deceitful tactic to extract substantial sums of money from more than six individuals. Initially, the father-son duo made various assurances to the victims, but despite the passage of time, no jobs materialized. When the defrauded youths demanded their money back, the pair vanished.

Forced to take action, the victims lodged a formal complaint at the local police station. During their investigation, the police learned that the accused had secretly returned to Ranchi and were hiding in their home. The victims immediately informed the police, who surrounded the residence. The Lower Bazaar police apprehended both suspects and placed them in judicial custody. The police are also actively searching for a third individual involved in the scam.

Police officials have confirmed that the accused had defrauded many individuals, not just a few, collecting large sums of money under the pretense of providing jobs. The total amount of the fraud is estimated to be in excess of one crore rupees. This is not the first time such scams have occurred in Ranchi, where fraudsters exploit the desire for employment and falsely claim high-level connections. Earlier this year, Usha Barla was arrested in the Bariatu area for impersonating a doctor and swindling people out of lakhs of rupees. She promised jobs, flats, and government benefits in exchange for cash.

Usha Barla was implicated in multiple cases across police stations including Nagri, Bariatu, Dhurwa, and Namkum. After considerable investigation and using technical means, the police arrested her in June. Ranchi police urge citizens to remain vigilant and report any instances of individuals demanding money in exchange for jobs or other benefits.
