RANCHI: In a decisive move to safeguard sports infrastructure, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Manjunath Bhajantri has issued strict directives for the immediate removal of illegal encroachments from the Morabadi Indoor Badminton Stadium premises. Speaking at a high-level review meeting on sports-related issues, Bhajantri emphasized that no leniency will be shown towards indiscipline.

The DC instructed officials to conduct regular inspections of all stadiums and sports complexes across Ranchi district. Any reports of unauthorized occupations, drug abuse, smoking, or unruly behavior must trigger swift enforcement actions. ‘Stadiums are sacred spaces dedicated to athletes’ training and competitions,’ Bhajantri asserted. ‘Maintaining discipline and cleanliness is non-negotiable.’

This crackdown comes amid growing concerns over misuse of public sports facilities. Illegal encroachments not only deprive players of vital space but also undermine the region’s sporting ambitions. Bhajantri made it clear that stringent legal measures await anyone found violating rules, regardless of the venue—be it Morabadi or any other district stadium.

The administration’s goal is clear: create a secure, hygienic environment where budding talents can train without interruptions. By fostering discipline, Ranchi aims to produce athletes who shine at state and national levels, boosting the district’s reputation. Officials present at the meeting, including sports department heads, were tasked with implementing round-the-clock monitoring mechanisms.

Bhajantri’s proactive stance signals a new era of accountability in sports governance. Local players and coaches have welcomed the orders, hoping it will curb longstanding issues plaguing facilities. With youth sports participation on the rise, such measures are crucial for nurturing future champions. The DC urged community cooperation, reminding everyone that sports venues belong to the public and must be preserved for generations.
