    Police Arrest TSPC Extremist Shambhu Singh in Chhatarpur

    The police have arrested Shambhu Singh, an active member of the TSPC, in Chhatarpur. Singh was reportedly in the area to collect levy for the extremist organization. Investigations revealed Singh’s participation in an encounter between police and the TSPC during the assembly elections. He was associated with Zonal Commander Shashikant. According to DSP Awadh Kumar Yadav of Chhatarpur, the police received intelligence on October 24, 2024, that Zonal Commander Shashikant Ganjhu and his team were planning an incident in the Turidag forest area of Chhatarpur. A subsequent raid resulted in an encounter, with police seizing Naxalite literature, however, the extremists escaped. Following this, police received information that Shambhu Singh was present in Palwa Tola, Morchwa, Chhatarpur, to collect levy. Singh was arrested, and two mobile phones were recovered. Singh has a criminal background with several cases registered against him under the Arms Act and for Naxalite activities in various police stations, including Manatu, Naudiha Bazar, Vishrampur, Rehla, and Chhatarpur. The operation involved several police officers and armed forces personnel.
