Tragedy struck a Muharram procession in Giridih, Jharkhand, when an electrical accident resulted in one death and several injuries. The incident took place in the Chokosinha area of the district. Preliminary reports indicate that a steel ‘tazia,’ a symbolic structure carried during the procession, came into contact with an 11,000-volt power line, causing a severe electric shock. One person was killed instantly, and two others are in serious condition. Several others sustained minor injuries and received immediate medical attention. The incident has deeply saddened the community.
