In a decisive crackdown on illicit liquor operations, Kodarma police seized a massive quantity of counterfeit alcohol and a Swift Dzire car from an abandoned chicken farm in Chandwara village. The raid, led by Superintendent of Police Anudeep Singh and Chandwara SHO Shashibhushan Kumar, followed a tip-off about large-scale illegal distillation and smuggling at the site owned by Piyush Kumar Pandey.
A special police team swooped down on the location near Chandni Talab in Bhuiya Toli. As officers approached, several suspects fled, but two were apprehended after a chase: Kanhaiya Kumar, 30, from Patna, and Gopal Singh, 50, from Gaya. Interrogations revealed a well-organized racket involving Piyush Pandey, his brother Ayush, and others like Ankit Kumar, Mahesh Saw, Sunil Kushwaha, and Santosh Kushwaha.
Kanhaiya confessed to working in the makeshift factory for months, while Gopal admitted being summoned for smuggling the fake booze in the seized car. The site yielded 100 liters of ready spurious liquor in drums, 120 liters of spirit in gallons, 218 branded bottles (91.2 liters), empty bottles, labels, caps, and chemicals for production.
Police also recovered 455 empty bottles, 4590 caps, label rolls, barcoded stickers, chemical jars, water gallons, and two Oppo mobiles. Total liquor value: Rs 1,30,016. No claimants or documents surfaced for the contraband. Both suspects were arrested, and a case under multiple IPC sections and Excise Act was registered at Chandwara station (Case 13/26, dated 11.02.2026).
Raids continue to nab fugitives, with criminal histories being probed and the network’s wider links under investigation. This operation underscores Jharkhand police’s resolve against spurious liquor syndicates endangering public health.
