The Jharkhand Police and security forces achieved a significant victory in the fight against Naxalism with an encounter in Gumla district. Three Naxalites were killed in the operation conducted in the forests of Rogri Toli. The deceased included sub-zonal commanders Lalu Lohar and Chhotu Uraon, both of whom had a reward of Rs 5 lakh on their heads. Sujit Uraon, another extremist active in the group, was also killed in the encounter.
The encounter resulted in the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and other weapons. The police are now conducting a comprehensive search operation to apprehend any other Naxalites in the area and ensure its complete security. It is worth noting that on August 6, 2025, the police had a major success in Gumla district when they killed Martin Kerketta, the supreme commander of the People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) and a Naxalite with a reward of Rs 15 lakh.
