Life Sentence for Three in 2004 Dhanbad AK‑47 Attack on Gangster Fahim Khan

Dhanbad, Jharkhand – A district and sessions judge handed down life imprisonment to three men linked to a 2004 armed assault on the residence of notorious gangster Fahim Khan. Shahid Alam, Shahadat Hussain and Tanveer Alam were each sentenced under the Arms Act, with terms ranging from seven to ten years to be served concurrently. The verdict, delivered on 28 September 2026, concludes a 22‑year legal battle that began after a barrage of AK‑47 fire struck Khan’s home in Vasapur on 29 January 2004. The attack left bodyguard Vinod Sharma dead and wounded a bystander named Shahid. The court’s order also includes convictions for murder, criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly and attempted homicide. Legal proceedings will continue as the convicted parties appeal the decision.
