An incident of arson and attempted extortion unfolded in the Bariyatu police station area of Latehar, where criminals set a Hyva truck ablaze near the Phulbasiya railway coal siding. The event, which took place late Saturday night, also involved gunfire and the distribution of a threatening note. The note, bearing the name of Rahul Dubey, issued a warning to those involved in the coal business, demanding money. After setting the truck on fire and firing shots, the criminals fled the scene. Police, led by Bariyatu police station in-charge Devendra Kumar, promptly arrived at the scene to investigate and apprehend the culprits. Law enforcement is actively investigating the incident. The incident is believed to be part of a larger pattern of extortion attempts targeting coal traders in Latehar district. The message left behind contained explicit threats, indicating that the act was carried out to extort money. Police have assured that the perpetrators will be apprehended soon.
