Latehar district witnessed a brazen act of vandalism as criminals set fire to vehicles near the Chamatu Colliery, under the jurisdiction of the Balumath police station. The incident took place late Friday night, prompting immediate action from local law enforcement.

Upon receiving reports, police swiftly arrived at the scene to assess the damage and launch an investigation. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible for the arson. Initial reports suggest the involvement of a group of armed assailants.

Details reveal that a group of five to six individuals, armed with weapons, entered the colliery premises. They proceeded to set ablaze a Hyva truck and another vehicle before fleeing the area. Authorities believe the act may be related to extortion attempts in the region.

This incident highlights the ongoing struggle against criminal elements seeking to exert their influence. Despite police efforts, these groups continue to engage in disruptive activities. The police are committed to restoring order and ensuring the safety of the community.

Latehar SP Kumar Gaurav has confirmed that raids are in progress to capture the criminals, with arrests expected soon.
